The service
addtosite serves a share button widget as a static file, plus a small endpoint that counts shares. Both are offered as they are, with no uptime promise. Because the widget never waits on our servers, an outage on our side stops the counting, not the sharing.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the widget on sites distributing malware or unlawful material.
- Do not send fabricated share events to the counting endpoint.
- Do not re-host a modified copy of the widget under our domain names or branding.
Self-hosting an unmodified copy on your own domain is fine, and so is forking it.
Changes
The widget is versioned. Breaking changes get a new version rather than being pushed into the file your pages already load. The service catalog grows over time; existing class names keep working.
Liability
The widget is provided without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for losses arising from its use, from an outage, or from anything that happens on a third-party service after a visitor is handed off to it.
